Our next regularly scheduled membership meeting will take place on June 12, 2026, at 8:00pm at the IBEW Local 692 1300 W. Thomas St. Bay City, MI 48706.
Our monthly dues will stay at our current rate of 55.85 for 2026. We will be having a Common Arc Weld Testing on June 25 and June 26, 2026. If you are a journeyman and interested in taking a test contact NCL Services at (586)477-1562. Apprentices will be given a date and time for their test. Congratulations to the elected delegates to the Thirty Fifth Consolidated Convention. Mike Card and Don Fajardo by Office, Elected Tony Herrera, Jamie Ratliff, Terry Sullivan, Scott Ivey and Brad Dame. These delegates will represent the members of Local 169 at the convention which will be held July 20 through July 23, 2026. Congratulations to Matt Root he will be representing our Local at the regional apprentice competition in Hobart Indiana the first week of June we wish him luck. Local 169 Golf Outing will be June 19th at St. Clair Golf Club 1714 River Rd. St. Clair, MI 48079. If you are interested in participating contact the union hall at (313)584-8520. Boilermakers Local 169 Area Picnics. Area 1 - picnic will be August 8, 2026, at Camp Dearborn noon until 7:00pm. We will also have food, drinks, adult and kids raffle prizes, games, cornhole tournament, bounce house, face painting, and fun for the whole family. If you can meet at 8am to help set up, we could always use the help! Area 2 – Picnic will be on September 7, 2026 (Labor Day) following the parade. More information to come. Area 3 - picnic will be August 1, 2026, at Sanford Lake Park noon until 7:00pm. We will have food, drinks, adult and kids’ raffles and prizes, fun for the whole family. Sanford Lake is filled up now and has a splash park for the kids. Please bring a dish to pass. Area 4 – Information will be coming soon. OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 safety training can now be taken online. Any member interested in getting the Great Lakes Safety background check for Corteva please contact Business Agent, Jim Calouette at (906) 428-2880. Any members interested in EPRI Rigging, which is required for working in the Nuclear Plants. Please contact Tony Herrera at 616-296-9131, or Jamie Ratliff at 313-584-8520. Your name will be added to the list. Once we have a full class, you will be notified when and where to attend. Per your International, any member with EPRI training will not be required to have Rigging 1 through 4 for placement on the BDS. Retirees: Retiree luncheons Area 1 Retirees luncheon is on the first Wednesday of every month at 11:00 am at the White Rhino Sports Bar located at 4328 Oakwood, Melvindale, Michigan 48122. Area 2 Retirees hold luncheons on the first Thursday of every month at 11am at Whitlow’s Forerunner Restaurant located at 4610 Airline Rd, Muskegon MI. All retirees and members from all areas are welcome to attend. Area 3 Retirees luncheon is the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 11AM. The next lunch will be on June 17, 2026, at The Rema Tavern. The address is 118 W. Wheatland Ave., Rema, Michigan 49340. As always, everyone from all areas is welcome to attend. Area 4 Retirees’ lunches are on the first Tuesday of the month at 11am in Rapid River at Jacks Restaurant 7898 S. Main Street, Rapid River, MI. Area 4 retirees also meet in Marquette on the second Tuesday of the month at 11am at Crossroads Bar on the corner of County Rd 553 and County Road 480. Hoodies have arrived in all sizes at the Union Hall. The cost is $50.00 XL and smaller 55.00 for 2XL, 60.00 for 3XL and 70.00 for 4XL. Payments can be made with cash or a check. If you live outside of the area and would like to order one, please call the hall. Additional shipping charges will be added. Baseball caps are also available. Varsity jackets are available by special order. Please contact the Union Hall for details. The upcoming MSHA training schedule is available at www.boilermakerslocal169 or on our Facebook page. The cost of your T.W.I.C. card is reimbursable from the M.O.R.E. Fund. Contact the Union Hall for reimbursement. Any member needing the services of a Notary Public can do so at no charge at the Boilermakers Local 169 Union Hall. Please call ahead to ensure availability. Any current apprentice that is eligible to utilize their G.I. Bill should contact their branch of service regarding this benefit. Your apprenticeship training qualifies for reimbursement under the terms of the G.I. Bill. I advise all apprentices who qualify to take advantage of this well-deserved benefit.
