Dear Brothers & Sisters,
Now that the Fall 2015 outage season is upon us, I urge every member to make safety their number one priority. In addition, we must continue to provide the quality craftsmanship that has made us the best choice for our owners and contractors for the last 120 years. We will be taking in a new class of apprentices in all four areas. Please make every effort to assist them in their endeavors. The apprentices we train today are the future of our local. With that in mind, I would like to thank Jon Nevedal for his hard work and dedication in winning this year’s National Apprenticeship Competition. This is our fifth national champion and fifth team champion. Local 169 also has 10 Great Lakes Regional champions. Many who attended this year’s event commented on the success Local 169 has achieved at this competition. This is a direct reflection of our training program, training center, and trainers. It is also a direct reflection on you – the member. Without your selfless contribution to our training fund and building maintenance fund we would not be able to provide our apprentices with the training that is being recognized as the best in the country. I encourage every member to utilize our training facility and Journeyman upgrade program. The date for referral compliance has been extended to January 1, 2016. Please make every effort to complete the mandatory training before then. If you have any questions regarding training, please contact the union hall.
