Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This spring outage season has brought full employment to Local 169. I urge every Boilermaker to work safely during these busy, hectic times. With long hours and the aggressive scheduling demands of our owners and contractors, comes an increase in potential hazards. Make sure to get plenty of rest and come to work with a clear head. In addition, assess your work environment on every shift to insure you are working as safely as possible. Pay attention to housekeeping, cords, and any other hazard that could pose a safety threat. These things are not only important to your personal well-being, they are important to our owners, contractors, and fellow tradesmen. Please make every effort to insure those around you are working safely. Take time to instruct our apprentices of the important safeguards we take to prevent accidents, such as, wiring off wedges or other items that may cause injury. Your experience plays a vital role in helping to train our young brothers and sisters in the proper way to perform our craft. As always, this summer will bring a host of activities for our members and their families. Please take time to participate in our golf outing, an area picnic, or Labor Day parade. Keep in mind, the Boilermakers Entertainment Committee is always looking for volunteers to help with these events. Anyone interested should contact the union hall. In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for re-electing me to my fourth term as your Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer. I will continue to fight for what is in the best interest of every Boilermaker that has placed their trust in me. Be safe, and have a great summer!
